(Refrain:) The funniest thing I think I ever saw
was the day they were playing puppy dog football!

On a crisp afternoon one fine day inFall
I saw sone kids playing football, having fun as I recall,
But they didn’t have enough of them to make two teams in all
So they used their dogs to play that game of football!

A Labrador retiever went out for a pass,
But a great big German shepard came up beside him fast!
They yipped and they barked as they rolled in the grass
While a beagle with the ball went running right past!
He was tackled by his tail in a pile of dogs and kids,
And then evryone lined up again and this is what they did,
They tried to run another play, but the ball, it was “hid”
‘cause the poodle dug a hole and tried to bury it instead!

When they finally found the ball they went to do it all again.
Their ears and their tongues were flapping in the wind.
When a scruffy little puppy saw me standing on the end,
He ran right up and asked me if I’d like to join in!
Because puppies don’t care if they lose or they win
They just like to have fun and play with their friends.
